About Us

We invite you to celebrate the genuine ritual: the sight of a perfect infusion, the deep draw of pure aroma, and the exquisite taste of uncompromised tea.

  • The Heart of Akiya

At Akiya, our reverence is for the tea leaf in its purest form. We do not just make tea; we craft an unparalleled experience of aroma and infusion. For the true connoisseur, ritual is in clarity of liquor, complexity of fragrance, and authentic, uncompromised flavour that only high-grade leaf can deliver.

  • The Promise of Authenticity

Authenticity is the cornerstone of Akiya. Every leaf is handpicked, grown sustainably, and nurtured with care to ensure that it arrives with its aroma and character intact. Unlike mass-produced teas that get lost in blending, Akiya’s teas are processed with minimal handling, preserving the natural strength and fragrance of the leaf.

  • The Power of Aroma

This is where our signature comes to life. Our leaves are carefully processed to lock in their delicate aromatic oils, which are released beautifully during the brewing process. The result is a liquor that possesses a deep, clear character and a lingering fragrance. The moment the water touches the leaf, you experience the essence of Akiya, where aroma meets authenticity.

Our Journey

2000 – The Beginning of Cultivation

We began our journey with a simple question: What makes a tea leaf truly exceptional?

Focusing on clonal varieties P126, N436, and S3A3, we planted our tea garden in the foothills of Arunachal Pradesh, dedicating ourselves to understanding the growth, aroma, and character of each leaf.

2000–2003 – Learning the Leaf

For three years, we studied the life of the tea leaf. Soil, rainfall, and natural growth cycles, before entering commercial production. No shortcuts, no mass plantations: just meticulous care to ensure purity and freshness from the very start.

2003 – First Commercial Steps

We began supplying to bought-leaf factories, learning the nuances of processing and market demand. However, we soon realised that our tea’s uniqueness was getting lost in blending, and this insight inspired us to think bigger.

2003–2010 – Crafting a State-of-the-Art Factory

Determined to preserve the identity of our tea, we spent seven years developing a factory capable of handling leaves with minimal processing, ensuring that aroma, clarity, and strength were never compromised.

2010 – Tea Auctions and Market Mastery

We started selling our teas through auctions, gaining deep insights into flavour profiles, consumer preferences, and the global tea market. This experience honed our expertise and solidified our commitment to quality over quantity.

2025 – Launch of Akiya

After decades as growers, connoisseurs, and innovators, we proudly present Akiya, a brand that embodies the philosophy we have nurtured from day one:

  • Aroma meets authenticity
  • Minimal handling, maximum purity

Tea that reflects its roots, its soil, and its care.

Our Story & Milestones

Learn about our journey and the key moments that shaped who we are today.

The name reflects not only the geography but also the spirit of renewal and clarity that each dawn brings, much like the first infusion of a fine tea.

Every sunrise over our gardens is a reminder of our roots - fertile lands, flowing water that never stagnates, and leaves that thrive in balance with nature. Akiya is therefore more than a name; it is a reflection of place, purity, and purpose.

Our journey with tea began not as traders but as growers. Back in 2000, we began cultivating clonal varieties such as P126, N436, and S3A3, focusing on understanding the leaf. Its growth, its temperament, its relationship with soil and rain. For three years, we studied the plant before even beginning commercial production.

When we started supplying to bought-leaf factories, we realised something important: our tea, with all its care, aroma, and distinctiveness, was being blended away, lost in the anonymity of bulk production. That moment was the turning point.

We decided to build a state-of-the-art factory, one that could do justice to the leaves we grew with such devotion. By 2010, we were selling our teas through auctions, learning the nuances of flavour, pricing, and consumer perception. Today, after decades of growing and perfecting the craft, Akiya is the natural extension of that journey and a brand born out of the desire to preserve the true identity of the leaf and bring its authentic aroma directly to the cup.

At its heart, Akiya represents authenticity, respect for nature, and quiet craftsmanship.

We believe that tea is not just a beverage, it’s a ritual of stillness, a bridge between land and soul. Every leaf tells a story of rain, soil, and sunlight, and our role is simply to preserve that narrative.

Our philosophy is rooted in the belief that true luxury lies in purity. No additives, no embellishments, just the leaf in its truest form. We honour the slow process, the human touch, and the patience that great tea demands. Akiya is for those who find beauty in simplicity and depth in every sip.

Akiya offers handpicked CTC and Orthodox teas, crafted from superior clonal varieties, grown sustainably, and processed with precision to retain their natural essence.

What makes Akiya unique is our grower-first mindset. Most brands begin with marketing; we began with the leaf. Every decision, from planting to plucking to packaging, is driven by one goal: to protect the integrity of the tea.

Our teas are known for their strong, clear liquor, aromatic depth, and uncompromised freshness. The focus is always on minimal handling and careful processing, ensuring that the aroma and our signature remain intact.

Akiya is designed for those who seek authenticity over artifice, discerning drinkers who appreciate craftsmanship, tradition, and the quiet luxury of a perfectly brewed cup.

As we move forward, our vision for Akiya is to bring the essence of the garden directly to the world.

In the coming years, we plan to expand beyond India, introducing global audiences to the depth and heritage of Arunachal and Assam tea through our brand. We aim to curate limited-edition single-origin collections, celebrate micro-harvests, and explore new blends that stay true to our philosophy of authenticity.

We are also working toward creating a direct-from-garden ecosystem, where consumers can trace their tea back to the very plot it was plucked from, ensuring transparency, traceability, and trust.

Ultimately, Akiya is not just about selling tea; it’s about reviving the art of pure tea drinking and building a community of people who value the calm, clarity, and connection that only true tea can offer.
